The Los Angeles Rams will not need to know Matthew Stafford’s current status until early March.
Both head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead have endorsed and imitated Stafford’s declaration that he will take his time before making a decision. Andrew Whitworth, a former colleague and left tackle for the Rams, was asked if he had any advice.
Whitworth did what was required of him.
Whitworth wrote, “Yes, I am fully aware of Stafford’s offseason decision,” on X on January 25. Here’s the thing, though.
“He hits terrific high fades with a driver at the beginning of the offseason. (To be honest, initially a bit too high). Strong irons range from long to mid. Outstanding for a lengthy layoff. exudes confidence when hitting the ball. Those wedges are actually where the decisions begin.
At that point, choices must be made. makes him consider which one to employ. Once he passes this stage, you can observe that he has a low single-digit handicap.
The Rams would want an answer as quickly as feasible, McVay stated. There are other financial considerations besides Stafford’s roster bonus. A quarterback search may take up important resources that could be used to solve other personnel problems.
Snead left the door open for the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback to be traded.
With so much relying on her husband’s response, Kelly, Stafford’s wife, pointed out that they are aware the Rams need an answer soon.
“No matter what, this will happen eventually,” Kelly Stafford stated on “Timeout” on January 22. “It may happen the following year if not this year. He had a fantastic season, in my opinion. When you take your team from 1-4 to where they were, it’s a f****** proud way to end, so if he wants to do that, then go for it. It is truly something to be very proud of.
We will give it some time, and he will work it out. But the Rams need to know and stuff like that, so he’s going to have to sort it out pretty quickly. So I suppose we’ll keep an eye on things.

On the last drive, Kelly Stafford also said that Matthew Stafford thought he was “going f****** win this thing.”
Stafford’s wife complained, “F****** defensive tackle [Jalen Carter] made a play.”

The quarterback’s remarks after the game are consistent with Kelly Stafford’s story. After the game, Stafford refused to make a commitment.
He did admit that he felt he still had some high-level skill left in him and that he was playing well.
On January 19, Stafford said to reporters, “I love competing, I love being in those moments, and I’m sure as hell not afraid of them.” I gave everything my all, but today didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. Let’s line up and do it again the next time I’m out there.
Stafford is signed to a four-year, $160 million contract until 2026, and he has a $4 million incentive that is due on March 15, the third day of the new league year.
