The Boston Bruins are likewise determined to keep the captain, who is all in on resigning in Beantown.
It’s easier said than done, though.
According to a source cited by Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects, the Bruins are in a difficult position about their choice to keep Marchand, who has played for the Bruin for all 16 of his NHL seasons.
“I’m told Bruins management keeps calling on Marchand, and he is adamant that he wants to stay in Boston,” Robinson stated on X. “You have to decide whether it’s better to keep your captain or to realize it’s time to move assets.”
Marchand expressed desire in remaining the team’s captain when asked about the possibility of resigning or being moved this week, but he also said that thinking about it right now is just a diversion.
“Clearly, we’re having discussions,” Marchand stated. “I think I know where I stand personally. Again, though, it will remain between us. I had always intended to play here for the rest of my career. That hasn’t changed; playing for this club is a gift.

Boston has had a difficult season; with 23 games left, they are two points outside of a postseason berth. Boston is not anticipated to be buyers for the March 7 deadline since the Bruins are tied with the Rangers and Blue Jackets and have a few other clubs within three points of them.
