Breaking News: Kansas State Wildcats Football Quarterback Blake Barnett Just Officially Announced His Departure With Kansas State And Give Reasons Why He Wants To Leave…

Chris Klieman, the football coach of Kansas State, has filled the last position on his coaching staff for 2025.

Luke Wells, a more than 20-year coaching veteran and former offensive assistant at three other Big 12 teams, will teach the Wildcats’ tight ends, Klieman said Monday. Brian Lepak, who moved to the offensive line last week, is replaced by him.

“Luke brings an extensive amount of coaching experience and recruiting energy to our tight end room, which of course has been a big piece to our recent offensive success,” Klieman stated. “I have known Luke for quite a while and even visited with him during previous position openings, and we are thrilled to have him and his family in our program.”

Wells, who graduated from Oklahoma in 2002, was a quarterback for the Sooners before becoming their coach. Throughout his career, he has coached tight ends and receivers at Texas Tech and Iowa State. His most recent position was as tight ends coach at Tulsa in 2022.

Luke Wells was hired as the tight ends coach by Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman on Monday, rounding out his staff.
“I am grateful for the opportunity from Coach Klieman to help this staff and be a part of the winning culture at K-State,” Wells stated. “I can’t wait to get to work with our talented group of tight ends.”

When Matt Wells was head coach at Utah State and Texas Tech, Wells was a coach under his brother, who is now the offensive coordinator at K-State.

After offensive coordinator Conor Riley left to take a position as offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys, Luke Wells was added to complete the staff adjustments. Matt Wells was promoted from quarterbacks coach to coordinator first, and then Lepak took over Riley’s offensive line responsibilities.
