Harrison Bader’s tenure with the New York Mets was brief but quite memorable. The club that transformed an early-season slump into an exciting postseason run included the dynamic outfielder, who is renowned for his defensive brilliance and contagious enthusiasm.
Even if his bat wasn’t always blazing, the Mets were able to go all the way to the National League Championship Series because to his glove and quickness.
However, baseball continues to move forward as usual. Bader began a new chapter in his career this week when he inked a contract with the Minnesota Twins. The Mets had already changed course by signing Jose Siri over the summer. But Bader wasn’t going to depart without a decent farewell.
A Magical Season
Bader reflected on the Mets’ incredible 2024 season, which began with a lot of uncertainty and criticism, in a touching Instagram post. The team’s direction was questioned by many after a slow 0–5 start and a 22–23 record by early June. Then, though, something clicked.

The Mets emerged as baseball’s top club after June 3. In a sense that seemed almost mystical, not simply statistically. Bader used the term “magic” to describe it.
“Now, I think ‘OMG,’ when I think of the 2024 Mets,” he wrote. The concert we attended in full uniform in the center of the infield following a victory comes to mind. The Grimace initial pitch comes to mind. I consider the walk-offs and the comebacks. In must-win games, I consider the victories. I consider the enthusiasm and the fans.
