General manager Howie Roseman has put together a very good roster for the Eagles, who will travel to New Orleans to compete in Super Bowl LIX.
There are lots of new players from the past two years on the squad, even though many players were on it during Super Bowl LVII.
Before we get too deep into the hectic week of Super Bowl coverage, here is a breakdown of each offensive player on the 53-man Eagles roster:
The beginning
QB Jalen Hurts: The Eagles’ starting quarterback answered several questions about himself and the passing offense while playing one of his greatest games of his career in the NFC Championship Game. Following the bye week this season, the Eagles mostly relied on their running offense. Hurts had a season-average of 33 passing attempts prior to the bye, and he has only thrown 30 times since. Reducing his turnovers was Hurts’ most important action. He has only committed three turnovers in his 14 starts since committing seven in his opening four games. Additionally, he has four running touchdowns already in the playoffs and 14 in the regular season.
Saquon Barkley, RB: Barkley, one of five nominees for MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, has had a spectacular season. Barkley hasn’t slowed down in the playoffs, becoming only the ninth player in NFL history to dash for 2,000 yards in a season this season. Barkley has now amassed 442 running yards and five touchdowns in three postseason games. Terrell Davis’s single-season running record for both the regular season and the postseason is within 30 yards of him. Barkley has been a danger to hit home runs as well; this season, he has seven TD runs of 60 yards or more, while the league as a whole has ten.
WR A.J. Brown: Brown had a fantastic performance in the NFC Championship Game with six catches for 96 yards and a score, following a lackluster first two games in the playoffs (3 catches for 24 yards). For some who believe Brown is a diva, he has also been putting Barkley first during these playoffs. Despite missing a few games this season, Brown was selected as an All-Pro second-team player after logging over 1,000 yards in 13 games for a run-first offense. In the Super Bowl, he will be among the top players on the field.
