The nation will see the start of the Kansas City Chiefs’ pursuit of a third straight Super Bowl. The Chiefs will play in the season’s opening contest on October 1, 2024, when they host the Baltimore Ravens.
On Thursday, September 5, the game will air on NBC and Peacock, which is owned by the same firm as NBC News.
Though it’s not always the case, the season’s opening game is typically played on Thursday night of opening weekend and features the defending Super Bowl winner.
On May 15, the NFL Network and Peacock will reveal the remainder of the schedule.
This first game is an excellent one. In the previous season’s AFC championship game, the Chiefs triumphed 17-10 over the Ravens in Baltimore. Leading the way at quarterback and 2023 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, the Chiefs overcame a strong opposition to win and move on to the Super Bowl, where they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25–22 in overtime.
The Chiefs are anchored by tight end Travis Kelce, whose profile shot last year despite his relationship with Taylor Swift, and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who leads the team with an unwavering defense.
An additional NFL game has already been revealed: the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles will meet in Sao Paulo on Friday, September 6, in the league’s inaugural game in Brazil. This will be the first NFL game to be played on a Friday during the first week of the season in over 50 years.
Although the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets did play on the Friday following Thanksgiving last year, Friday NFL games are still somewhat uncommon.
