With Opening Day just around the corner, the Atlanta Braves have made some roster adjustments concerning the injured list (IL). While none of these moves come as a major surprise, they still provide valuable insight into which players will be available at the start of the season, who will be sidelined, and when they might be expected to return to action.
The Braves announced these IL designations through an official statement, clarifying the status of key players. Ronald Acuña Jr. has been placed on the 10-day IL, while Spencer Strider is on the 15-day IL. The distinction is due to MLB regulations, which require pitchers (and two-way players) to be assigned to the 15-day IL, whereas position players are eligible for the 10-day IL. This does not necessarily mean Acuña will return sooner than Strider, but it ensures both players have ample time to recover and prepare for their respective comebacks.
Additionally, Nacho Alvarez Jr. has been dealing with an injury since late February, and he still requires more recovery time before he can return to full health. Given his situation, he is expected to start the season in Triple-A. Meanwhile, catcher Sean Murphy has recently been cleared to resume baseball activities. However, he is still a few weeks away from making a full return to the lineup.
Reliever Joe Jiménez, who underwent major knee surgery, is also on the 15-day IL. Given the severity of his injury, he is expected to miss a significant portion—if not all—of the 2025 season. The Braves will likely transfer him to the 60-day IL when they need to clear a roster spot, marking the first official IL move for Jiménez since his surgery.
Overall, these roster adjustments were largely expected, but they help clarify the Braves’ roster situation as Opening Day draws closer. With these moves in place, the team is steadily shaping up for the start of the season.
