Former LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton has agreed to a two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. His deal follows closely behind that of Donte Jackson, another ex-LSU Tiger, who also secured a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. Fulton’s agreement with the Chiefs is worth $20 million, with $15 million guaranteed.
Fulton played cornerback for LSU as a starter during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The New Orleans native was a key defensive player on the Tigers’ championship-winning team in 2019 before being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 61st overall pick. He spent four seasons with the Titans, accumulating over 2,300 snaps and recording four interceptions.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Fulton joined the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year contract. In his one season with the Chargers, he started 15 games under head coach Jim Harbaugh. He allowed a 65.2% completion rate on passes thrown his way, giving up 491 yards and six touchdowns while securing one interception and breaking up five passes. However, with Donte Jackson joining the Chargers this offseason, the team decided to part ways with Fulton.
The Chiefs, who have claimed three Super Bowl titles in the last six seasons, wasted no time bringing in the veteran cornerback. While Kansas City already has a standout young corner in Trent McDuffie, the team is focused on reinforcing depth at the position. Seventh-round pick Jaylen Watson has also developed into a reliable option in their secondary, but adding Fulton provides the team with another experienced defensive back.
With this move, Fulton becomes the second former LSU cornerback to secure a multi-year contract with an AFC West franchise this offseason.
