Kansas State Completes Coaching Staff with Hiring of Luke Wells
Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman has finalized his football coaching staff, bringing in Luke Wells as the Wildcats’ new tight ends coach, pending a successful background check.
Wells arrives in Manhattan with more than two decades of college coaching experience, having previously served as an assistant at Louisiana-Monroe, Iowa State, Utah State, Texas Tech, and Tulsa. At each stop, he specialized in coaching tight ends, making him a natural fit for the role at K-State.
A Familiar Name for Kansas State
Wells is no stranger to the Wildcats’ program. He is the brother of offensive coordinator Matt Wells, and the two previously worked together at Utah State and Texas Tech when Matt was the head coach at both schools.
Klieman expressed enthusiasm about the hire, emphasizing both Wells’ coaching acumen and his impact on recruiting.
“Luke brings an extensive amount of coaching experience and recruiting energy to our tight end room, which of course has been a big piece to our recent offensive success,” Klieman said in a statement. “I have known Luke for quite a while and even visited with him during previous position openings, and we are thrilled to have him and his family in our program.”
With this hire, K-State solidifies a coaching staff that will look to build on the program’s recent success and further develop the tight end position as a key component of the Wildcats’ offense.
