Although the Wisconsin Badgers easily defeated the Washington Huskies 88-62, things did not go as planned when Max Klesmit, one of their soldiers, was injured.

Medical personnel examine Wisconsin Badgers guard Max Klesmit (11) during the second half of the team’s game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey, USA, January 6, 2025. Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images is required to be credited.
They opened the game with their starting point guard, but he was replaced after only five minutes. During that time, he did not register any statistics.
Many supporters were taken aback by the decision because there were no indications or reports that Klesmit was injured. He scored eight points in 27 minutes of play during their defeat over the Oregon Ducks.
Thanks to the many days of relaxation, head coach Greg Gard stated that his injury is not too bad and that he is healing nicely.

Indeed, he’s had it for a while. I’m not sure whether it’s too significant, but occasionally he finds it difficult to let go. He thought it would be the end of it since it was upsetting him once he got out,” Gard told reporters on Wednesday.
“We have four days here today, and things have been improving, but he was unable to get it loose early in the game tonight.”
The Wisconsin Badgers, who took Klesmit’s place
The starting guard’s early absence did not pose much of an issue for the Badgers because the bench took over his position.
Among them, Jack Janicki stands out as he continues his remarkable run of games, which began during their victory over the Purdue Boilermakers when his name was called up following Kamari McGee’s ejection for a flagrant foul on a rolling screen.

As Klesmit’s replacement, Janicki scored eight points, pulled down four rebounds, and disheveled two assists.
The team’s designated sixth man, Kamari McGee, finished with eight points, three rebounds, and two assists.
With 12 points, Xavier Amos was the best player off the bench.
The squad will play again on Sunday against the Michigan State Spartans, who are ranked first in the Big Ten.
