Depending on how the draft board moves, the 49ers might choose to use the 11th selection in a variety of ways.
They most likely anticipate selecting the top defensive lineman on the market. However, the 49ers must be ready to choose Will Campbell, the best offensive lineman in the class, if he miraculously drops to the 11th choice.
In his most recent mock draft, Charlie Campbell anticipates the 49ers selecting just that player.
Campbell comments, “The 49ers could use more talent on the offensive line.” “This blocker might someday take Trent Williams’ job and assist them at guard or right tackle.
“As a true freshman in 2022, Campbell won the starting left tackle position during training camp and made 13 appearances. Then, as a sophomore in 2023, he maintained his position while shielding Jayden Daniels’ blind side.
“The massive, 325-pound, 6-foot-6 Campbell has a lot of experience coming into the NFL. According to team sources, Campbell is large, strong, and has superb technique when playing with his hands. He has, however, struggled in 2024 with playing over his toes too much and losing his balance. Campbell has a good chance of becoming a reliable starter at guard or tackle.
Bigger players are needed by the 49ers, particularly on the offensive line. The 49ers haven’t been able to wear down rival defensive fronts under head coach Kyle Shanahan, who usually favors smaller offensive lineman, but Campbell would offer them that capacity.
