LSU’s spring practices, which begin on March 8th, are quickly approaching as the winter season draws to a close. There is a lot of enthusiasm about this club and their potential in 2025, so the Tigers offseason cannot finish soon enough. LSU’s offense, which is strong from top to bottom, is the one generating the most attention.
Important players including Chris Hilton Jr., Aaron Anderson, Caden Durham, and Garrett Nussmeier were brought back by the Tigers. Additionally, LSU hopes that guys like Tyree Adams, Coen Echols, Trey’Dez Green, and others will keep improving and advance into starting positions. LSU’s transfer portal acquisitions, which included two starting receivers, two starting offensive lineman, and two tight ends who will make an immediate impact, are mostly responsible for the enthusiasm.
We made our “Way Too Early” predictions for LSU’s three deep depth chart on offense as Spring Camp draws near.
The most obvious position on the roster is quarterback, as Garrett Nussmeier, who is returning for his second season as LSU’s starting quarterback, looks to get better. Michael Van Buren, who has SEC experience and a ton of talent, is the obvious backup behind Garrett Nussmeier. Ju’Juan Johnson, who was shifted back to his high school quarterback position by LSU, will be the third person in the room while Colin Hurley heals from the injuries he had in his automobile accident.
Caden Durham, a powerful player who had an amazing first season, is back with the Tigers at running back. As LSU adds two outstanding backs to the bunch, there will be fierce competition for the second-most carries. Harlem Berry and JT Lindsey could occasionally be too good to keep off the field, but Kaleb Jackson will have the opportunity to be the backup and, with his experience, should be hired.
After LSU went out and stocked up at the position utilizing the transfer portal, the wide receiver room is a pick-your-poise scenario. Though almost everyone in the room has a chance to play important snaps for the Tigers in 2025, Aaron Anderson, Nic Anderson, and Barion Brown will probably be the first three players to take the field.
Since Mason Taylor, Ka’Morreun Pimpton, and Mac Markway have all gone since the beginning of summer camp, the room at Tight End will be almost all new. After showcasing his skills in the Texas Bowl, Trey’Dez Green appears to be the most likely starter. Donovan Green and Bauer Sharp, who transferred to LSU, will also receive playing time.
Due to the loss of four starters to the NFL, the offensive line is the most difficult group to forecast. Move Josh Thompson will play guard, but it’s uncertain which side he’ll play on, and Braelin Moore will probably start at center. The remaining lineman will be chosen for the remainder of camp and the summer, but the Tigers room is full of players who can start.
The group most likely to upset the Tigers’ status and topple some of the more seasoned players is LSU’s freshman class. No one would be shocked to see Harlem Berry receive a ton of touches in 2025 if he showed promise. He was the nation’s top running back recruit. The Tigers have a strong offensive line class, and if any of the freshmen had strong camps, they may start right away, particularly at tackle.
