One of the most sought-after resources in college football is a top offensive line recruit. For this reason, almost every top program in the country is contacting a player like Tampa, Florida’s Canon Pickett.
The four-star recruit recently gave Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports a list of his top ten schools, and Clemson was included. But in this recruitment fight, the Tigers will have to defeat some formidable opponents.
Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and Auburn are also included on Pickett’s list. Therefore, if Pickett is going to become a Tiger in the future, Clemson will need to present itself in the best possible light.
Pickett is an inside offensive lineman who stands 6 feet 4 and weighs 288 pounds. Regardless of position, he is ranked as the 340th best player in the country for the class of 2026 by 247Sports’ composite rankings. In addition, he ranks as the No. 48 player in the football recruiting hotspot of Florida and the No. 25 interior offensive lineman in his class.
Of the 19 offensive linemen on Clemson’s football roster, seven are now classified as juniors or seniors, indicating that by the time the 2026 class comes, they will either be gone or in their final season of eligibility. Conversely, nine of Clemson’s offensive linemen are either redshirt freshmen or true freshmen.
Stated differently, the program is in a strong position with regard to offensive line depth. But it’s crucial to keep adding parts to that position group.
This is due to the fact that offensive linemen are the most difficult athletes to project. It is quite challenging to predict which 18-year-old recruit will be able to retain the mobility required to play the position while gaining enough quality weight to compete with elite pass rushers.
Consequently, constructing an offensive line is mostly a numbers game. A program is more likely to have a solid offensive line depth in two, three, or four years if it adds more high-caliber choices to its roster.
Thus, pay attention to Pickett and other 2026 offensive line possibilities. The Tigers are working to strengthen that position group across the high school levels since it is one of the most crucial in football.
