Four-star defensive end JaReylan McCoy committed to LSU back in early January, but he just withdrew his promise to play for the Tigers following his senior year.
Then, in the fall of 2026, McCoy made the decision to completely restart his recruitment for the school where he plans to play football. He told On3 Recruits’ Chad Simmons that “relationships” are important to him. In an interview with On3, McCoy stated, “I’m looking for relationships and the people I am around.”
“I want to surround myself with wonderful individuals. Developing strong relationships is crucial to my choice.
The Mississippi native continued by disclosing the additional institutions he plans to visit in the upcoming months. In the spring, McCoy will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to discuss the prospect of joining the Gators with Billy Napier and his team.
Additionally, he will visit LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Auburn. Given McCoy’s current ranking, no club wants to pass up the opportunity to host him.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, he is now a four-star recruit, ranked sixth in the state of Mississippi and 100th overall. Although nothing is really set in stone, McCoy is scheduled to visit Florida and Auburn in May; he is also considering Texas A&M and Ole Miss, and it is anticipated that he will take another look at LSU in June of this year
