The theme of Saturday’s FanFest at Petco Park was disappointment, and third baseman Manny Machado was the loudest of all.
Machado expressed his displeasure with the executive office’s lack of activity over the summer and the impact it has had on the squad.

Two of Peter Seidler’s siblings are being sued by Sheel for managing his trust, which might affect who owns the business and who controls the trust.

“We have no control over that,” Machado stated. “We have no control over it. All we want to do is go out there and play baseball as best we can.
Players are preferring to sign elsewhere in large part because of the litigation, which has tarnished San Diego’s reputation. Ha-Seong Kim is currently with the Tampa Bay Rays, Kyle Higashioka is in Texas, Roki Sasaki signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Jurickson Profar joined the Atlanta Braves.
In contrast to Machado, manager Mike Shildt had an intriguing perspective on the summer.
He said, “We’ve had a really productive offseason.” The organization hasn’t made any transactions involving major league players and has only signed one free agent so far, a part-time catcher on a cheap one-year contract.
Shildt went on, “What we have is pretty darn good.” “… I’m quite thrilled. You hear what I’m saying? We should all be thrilled, but I am unable to change how other people feel. However, I can tell you that I am really excited.
