GOOD NEWS: The 25-Year-Old QB Justin Fields Officially Agreed To A $365 Million Deal To Resign With The Pittsburgh Steelers…

Before free agency begins in March, the Pittsburgh Steelers must make a crucial quarterback choice. In 2025, the club is anticipated to make a decision about the return of Russell Wilson or Justin Fields.

In 2024, Fields and Wilson agreed to one-year contracts with the Steelers. After battling a calf ailment to begin the season, Fields guided Pittsburgh to a 4-2 start before Wilson took over the starting spot.

Despite qualifying for the playoffs, the Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens 28-14 in the wildcard round. The season ended with the Steelers losing five straight games. Wilson’s performance in 2024 earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Recently, Steelers owner Art Rooney II stated that he believes the team will have to choose between Wilson and Fields.

People in the Steelers building like Fields more than Wilson, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Tomlin is “loyal” to Wilson, though.

“Many of the former Steelers players I’ve seen here in New Orleans are familiar with Steelers events,” Fowler stated. “They informed me that because of Fields’ age and mobility, some people in Pittsburgh’s building favor him over Russell Wilson, a free agency, as the starting quarterback. I had heard this before. However, it appears like coach Mike Tomlin has an allegiance to Wilson that may steer the club in that way.

Additionally, Fields may price himself out of Pittsburgh with a cunningly strong market. Wilson is open to returning after having a great season in Pittsburgh, but he is taking a wait-and-see attitude.

In recent weeks, Wilson has been linked to a number of different clubs, including the Las Vegas Raiders and Pete Carroll, his former head coach. Wilson has stated that the Steelers are his main priority.

In the end, one would think the Steelers would choose to grant Tomlin’s request.
