As he typically did with defenders during his time at Alabama, Jalen Milroe dismissed the question when it was posed.
In the lead-up to Sunday’s Super Bowl 59, the now-former Crimson Tide quarterback, who entered the NFL Draft this spring, was asked on Pro Football Talk on Wednesday in New Orleans if he would be open to playing any position in the NFL besides quarterback.
Milroe might have simply said “no,” but instead he went a step farther and included some animal allusions.
“At quarterback, always,” Milroe retorted. Naturally, the question has been posed, along with things like changing positions. How can I help? A zebra is never asked to be a dog.
After four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Milroe announced his intention to enter the NFL Draft. Milroe played for Kalen DeBoer in his last season, and three of those seasons were under the renowned Nick Saban.
Despite throwing 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions under DeBoer last season, Milroe was unable to lead Alabama to the College Football Playoffs. Milroe led the Crimson Tide to the playoffs the previous season under Saban, but they lost to eventual national champion Michigan in the quarterfinals.
During the 2022 season, Milroe also covered for an ailing Bryce Young.
At Alabama, he was only ever a quarterback, and he doesn’t want that to alter in the NFL.
