Jose Altuve Open to Positional Change if It Means Re-Signing Alex Bregman

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve has spent his entire career as a cornerstone of the franchise, but he’s now expressing a willingness to shift positions if it helps keep his longtime teammate Alex Bregman in Houston.

Bregman, who has spent his nine-year career with the Astros, is currently a free agent after the two sides failed to come to terms this offseason. Astros manager Joe Espada acknowledged Altuve’s athleticism and versatility, noting that the veteran could handle an outfield role if necessary.

Re-signing Bregman could necessitate positional adjustments, but Astros general manager Dana Brown emphasized that Breg
