On Thursday afternoon, three former LSU standouts were announced as the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award nominees.
Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders, Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Malik Nabers of the New York Giants were all selected. The Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and the Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers are the other two award contenders.
Following the announcement of the finalists, LSU recognized the three former Tigers’ achievements:
The overwhelming favorite to win the prize is Daniels. As a rookie, he guided the Commanders to the postseason, and this season, he passed for 3,568 yards. During his debut season, he also ran for 891 yards and scored 31 touchdowns (six rushing, 25 throwing). Despite being a regular-season honor, it’s important to remember that Daniels will be playing against the Philadelphia Eagles in this weekend’s NFC Championship Game.
One of the Jaguars’ few bright spots this season was Thomas. During the season, he caught 87 passes for 1,284 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Even though the Giants had a difficult season overall, Nabers had a fantastic season. In 15 games, he caught 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.
