FanDuel TV’s Kay Adams recently conducted an exclusive interview with New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams, offering insights that might intrigue Green Bay Packers fans. Adams, who left the Packers in 2022 after rising to second place on the franchise’s all-time receptions and receiving touchdowns lists, reflected on his journey since departing the team.
Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, but despite his individual success, the team struggled. His tenure with the Raiders was short-lived, as he was later traded to the New York Jets to reunite with former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, the Jets’ season did not go as planned, finishing with a 5-12 record, and the much-anticipated partnership between Adams and Rodgers failed to yield the expected results.
Looking ahead, Adams is set to command a $35.6 million base salary in 2025, a figure the Jets may find challenging to accommodate. This scenario has sparked speculation that Adams could become a cap casualty, potentially hitting free agency for the first time in his career.
During the interview, Kay Adams subtly hinted at the possibility of Davante Adams returning to a former team, particularly one with a name that rhymes with “smackers” and currently in the playoffs. While Adams didn’t confirm anything outright, he left the door open, saying, “You know, you can’t rule anything out. I’ve got a lot of love for all the organizations I’ve played for, so I wouldn’t rule out anybody.”
He further praised the Packers, calling them “a great team,” but quickly acknowledged his current ties with the Jets, indicating that he couldn’t speak openly about other teams at this stage.
This candid response suggests that Adams hasn’t closed the door on a potential return to Green Bay, leaving fans and analysts to speculate about the possibility of a reunion. If Adams enters free agency, the decision will rest with Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, who will determine if a return to Green Bay is in the cards for the talented receiver.
