David Pastrnak proved to be the hero for the Boston Bruins, snapping their six-game losing streak with a dramatic overtime goal against the Florida Panthers. Pastrnak’s game-winner, scored with just two seconds left in the extra period, gave the Bruins a much-needed 4-3 victory.
Earlier in the game, Pastrnak nearly sealed the win in regulation with an empty-net attempt, but the puck hit the post, leading to an icing call. The Panthers capitalized on the ensuing faceoff, with Sam Reinhart tying the game at 3-3 just before the final buzzer.
Despite the setback, Pastrnak maintained his offensive presence and secured the win in overtime. His attempted cross-ice pass deflected off Reinhart’s stick and found its way past Sergei Bobrovsky.
Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco praised the team’s resilience, highlighting Pastrnak’s performance and goaltender Jeremy Swayman’s 40 saves on 43 shots. Sacco acknowledged Swayman’s critical role in securing the win, calling his performance “the difference in the game.”
The victory also saw the Bruins break their power-play drought, with Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie each scoring with the man advantage. Oliver Wahlstrom added to the scoreline with his first goal as a Bruin, helping Boston regain their footing.
The Bruins will return to TD Garden to face the Tampa Bay Lightning, aiming to build on this momentum.
