Mahomes has injured his own teammate Rashee Rice
Chiefs fans are anxiously awaiting updates on star wide receiver Rashee Rice, who suffered a knee injury during the first quarter of the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The incident occurred while Rice and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were trying to tackle Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton after an interception.
The play was particularly shocking, as the Chiefs were already behind 10-0. During their second drive, Mahomes overthrew tight end Travis Kelce, resulting in Fulton returning the interception for 29 yards. Rice managed to catch up to Fulton at the Chiefs’ 20-yard line and knocked the ball loose. However, in the process, Mahomes accidentally collided with Rice’s legs while trying to bring down Fulton.
Though Chiefs center Creed Humphrey recovered the fumble, a video review showed that Rice had stepped out of bounds before forcing the turnover, meaning the Chargers retained possession.
