Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ lack of urgency in finalizing a new contract with CeeDee Lamb might set the stage for an unexpected blockbuster move this offseason. When asked about the contract, Jones stated, “I don’t have any urgency to get it done.” In reaction, Lamb responded with a simple “lol” on X and removed any Cowboys references from his profile.
With the Cowboys’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns still about four weeks away, and given that CeeDee Lamb doesn’t need to participate in the preseason, Jerry Jones might not feel the need to finalize a deal until late August or early September. Trading an All-Pro wide receiver in his prime, especially with significant pressure on quarterback Dak Prescott in his contract year, would be unwise for the Cowboys.
Teams will certainly explore the potential cost of acquiring CeeDee Lamb if it becomes a possibility. It’s important to remember that the Cowboys will probably need to offer Lamb a substantial salary increase, possibly exceeding the four-year, $140 million contract of Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson.
We have outlined five trade packages that include Dallas receiving a wide receiver and draft picks in exchange for Lamb.
