It was a chute-the-chute for the artistic gymnastics team of the USA at the Paris Olympic Games as they Secured the top spot on the medal table with 10 overall medals in artistic gymnastics with 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 6 bronze medals.
On July 29, the Team USA men came out behind China with the bronze medal while Japan topped the medal table. During the second day of the event, the women’s team clocked the gold medal while Brazil won the bronze medal behind Italy. Simone BILES opened the gold streak for Team USA in artistic gymnastics at the Paris Olympics with gold while Sunisa LEE won bronze for Team USA in the women’s All-final behind Rebeca ANDRADE of Brazil.
Simone BILES again! Won the gold medal for USA with Jade CAREY came third while Rebeca ANDRADE snatched the silver medal for the second time at the women’s Vault final on the first day of August.
Stephen NEDOROSCIK won the USA male team’s first medal in the men’s Pommel Horse Final, secured the bronze medal behind Nariman KURBANOV of KAZ and Rhys MC CLENAGHAN of IRL with the Gold Medal on the 4th of August. On the same day, Sanisa LEE also won a bronze medal for the female team in the women’s uneven Bars Final, QIU Qiyuan of CHN with the silver medal and Kaylia NEMOUR of ALG with the Gold.
Simone BILE and Jordan CHILES won silver and the bronze medal respectively in the women’s Floor Exercise Final while Rebeca ANDRADD sat on top at the medal table on the 5th of August in the artistic gymnastics of Olympic Games.
ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS HISTORY IN OLYMPIC
Artistic gymnastics was first propaunded at the maiden edition of the modern era Olympic Games in 1896 and has been included in every edition ever since.
The competition accommodates only male competitors for 32 years until Amsterdam 1928 Olympic Games, when women were allowed to compete for the first time in the sport. In 1952 the women’s programme was developed with seven events, and then later modified to six events, as has been the case since the 1960 Games in Rome.
There are eight events in the men’s program.
THE THRILLING ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS
Artistic gymnastics involves several individual competitions on different apparatus as well as a team competition involving gender-specific equipment.
Each of the apparatuses requires different skills. The Women compete across events including the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise while the men’s events include, the floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
