How He Got Here: In the past two years, the Cowboys have added a few players from other professional leagues, but Conley is the only one that was selected in the first round. Conley was selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft following three outstanding seasons at Ohio State, where he was selected to the second team of the Big 10 in 2016. Conley started 26 games in the NFL during his career, first for Oakland and later Houston. From 2020 to 22 he did not play football. After returning to the UFL, he played for the DC Defenders last season. His performance on the field earned him a tryout with the Cowboys, who signed him a few days later.
What’s Next: With Trevon Diggs returned from an ACL injury, the Cowboys have a strong cornerback tandem in DaRon Bland and seasoned Jourdan Lewis. However, Conley brings a wealth of experience to the table, and he may face competition from rookie Calen Carson, Nahshon Wright, and Eric Scott Jr. for one of the backup spots.
Did You Know: Conley made his Raiders debut in 14 games in 2018, recording a career-high three interceptions, including his sole touchdown return as a professional, a 36-yard catch in a game against Cleveland.
