According to The Athletic and ESPN, Bronny James, the son of NBA star LeBron James, who went into cardiac arrest last July, has received the all-clear from the NBA to be selected in the league’s draft.
Shortly after the panic, a representative for the James family stated that a congenital cardiac abnormality was most likely the cause. On December 10, in an overtime loss against Long Beach State, the 18-year-old made his debut as a freshman.
James is now able to take part in this week’s pre-draft combine in Chicago, where he will face off against other elite talents in front of scouts, coaches, and NBA executives.
The 6-foot-4 guard James filed for the draft in April. He has until May 29 to choose between going pro and going back to school. His stock has fallen due to the Trojans’ lack of success; he was once thought to be a jackpot choice. In 19.4 minutes per game, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 36.6% from the field.
Though it is not anticipated that he would be selected in the first round, organizations have allegedly indicated interest in him, in part because they want to retain or attract his well-known father.
Before he retires, LeBron has stated that he would like to play with his son.
“In 2023, I have to be on the floor with Bronny,” LeBron James stated to ESPN. “In the same uniform or facing him in a matchup… When I ask him what his goals are, he tells me that he wants to be an NBA player. He must therefore put in the effort if he wants to accomplish it. I’m only waiting on him because I’ve already arrived.”
